About

Our Inspiration

Cynthia G. Peacock and Steven D. Morris, founding members of NYC SOUP, are leaders known for building businesses, creating opportunities, and bringing people together. As their networks and careers grew, they recognized something was still missing: a genuine space where ambitious professionals could connect, exchange resources, and grow alongside one another.

While many organizations focused only on networking, Cynthia and Steven envisioned something more meaningful. They believed that when leaders and professionals across industries intentionally support one another, everyone benefits. Connections become collaborations. Knowledge becomes access. Individual success becomes collective progress.

That vision became NYC SOUP or NYC Society of Urban Professionals.

NYC SOUP (also called SOUP Network) was created as a community where business owners, entrepreneurs, and professionals could develop leadership skills, build authentic relationships, and create measurable growth in both business and life. What started as a shared idea has grown into a thriving network driven by purpose, ambition, and the desire to make an impact.

Today, NYC SOUP continues to bring together people with vision, determination, and dreams bigger than themselves. Together, we empower one another, open doors for our communities, and contribute to the continued growth of our beloved New York City.

Our Philosophy

Founded in 2008, NYC SOUP was built on the belief that real relationships matter. Long before networking became likes, follows, and algorithms, we created a space where ambitious professionals could connect authentically, exchange ideas, and create real opportunities together. We believe that when the right people come together with purpose, businesses grow stronger, collaborations happen naturally, and communities move forward. NYC SOUP brings together entrepreneurs, executives, creatives, and leaders who believe in connection, access, and collective growth. At its core, NYC SOUP is a community built to help people build relationships that truly go somewhere.
